Ariel Wittenberg, reporter for the New Bedford Standard-Times in Massachusetts, took a month away from her newsroom to focus on researching and writing about the EPA's approach to cleaning toxic chemicals from Superfund sites. She found that the chemicals left behind are often still dangerous, and the EPA uses restrictions that are not monitored. Wittenberg worked with national trainer Michael Roberts on the project as part of the Pinnacle national project reporting training from GateHouse Media.
